ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

TIME: Sunday, February 12, 2017,  11am-3pm
LOCATION: The Such Sweet Tierney studio in Pioneer Square. Directions and additional details will be emailed to you a few days before the workshop.

DESCRIPTION
Learn to transform plain sheet metal into bold, modern jewelry using the essential metalworking skill of sawing and piercing. You’ll receive a hands-on introduction in this three-hour workshop.

First, we’ll cover the tools, the process, and tips for effective sawing. We’ll also look at examples of what’s possible using this versatile technique.

Following a short demo, you’ll have a chance to practice sawing before creating your own hand-cut brass necklace to take home.

The workshop cost includes:

  • Instruction
  • Handouts
  • Materials--metal, necklace chain, and incidentals
  • Tools and blades for use while in class
  • Safety glasses will be provided for use in class, but please bring your own from home if you have them.

*A kit will also be available for purchase so you can practice your new skills at home. The kit ($35) includes a jewelers saw, a bench pin, and two dozen saw blades.
